Peregrinus Silva Bohemica
The Multimedia Tourist Guide

Description

The goal of the project Peregrinus Silva Bohemica is to upgrade the historical cultural landscapes along the historical cross-border paths of the Bavarian and Bohemian forests through modern and multimedia tools for pilgrims, hikers and all those interested in history.

Historically and culturally themed routes will be located and provided via an online map application for web and smartphone users. Existing information on the monuments will be digitally processed and interpreted (3D, augmented reality). Vivid and detailed information will be provided to users on the spot, supported by audio and video functions. Furthermore, the online map application will enable tourists to plan and navigate alongside historical routes and sites.

By taking an existing Bavarian-Bohemian Baroque route as exemplary model, the multimedia travel guide will be processed and the developed functions will be tested. This project aims at having the Baroque era gain the same significance in the local tourism that it rightfully has elsewhere, for instance, the famous and outstanding architectural monuments by Georg Dientzenhofer and the Asam brothers, which are of great significance beyond national boundaries. The project’s multi-media concept is complemented by professionally created film sequences on selected topics along the Baroque route.

The film sequences, audio data, photos and texts will be made available as information material on individual buildings, monuments and route sections. Usability tests will investigate whether the various pieces of information have been embedded into the online map application in a sensible way and whether they enhance user experience.
